CENTRE FOR INTER-CULTURAL STUDIES (CICS)

The SAIACS Centre for Inter-Cultural Studies (CICS) is an exciting kingdom initiative which seeks to help equip the Church to engage the world in a creative, contextual and compassionate way. SAIACS CICS helps SAIACS better achieve its mission and vision through doing more than formal academic on–campus education.prabhu-singh
According to Dr Prabhu Singh, the founding Director of CICS and trained missiological anthropologist with a PhD in Intercultural Studies, SAIACS CICIS ‘will provide a platform for Christian academicians and field practitioners to collaborate on missional issues, engage in quality research, form strategic think tanks and offer cutting edge contextual training to further the Gospel innovatively.’ Key issues include discipleship, attrition among new believers, lack of biblical literacy, inadequate development of new leaders and contextual challenges like persecution and poverty

Our Goals

Train Christian leaders through residential academic programs at SAIACS and flexible field training, specialized seminars, conferences and consultations.
Research relevant issues that help shape our strategies for missions.
Foster innovative missions through the creative arts, media and technologies.
Network with various churches, mission agencies and seminaries.
Develop mission-related resources like journals, books, curriculum and mission archives to inform and equip the Body of Christ.

Our Initiatives

  1. The Christward Movements Research Project seeks to understand the emergence of new Christward movements among various cultural communities in North India. We want to help by understanding the historical, political, social, cultural and religious and the distinctive nature of these movements.pastors-conf-odisha
  2. Christ and Cultures Seminars seek to educate the Church to incarnate the Gospel among diverse cultures so that the emergent indigenous Christianity would be rooted in Christ and relevant to the local cultural context
  3. Contextual Field Training aims to provide informal theological training through flexible modes of delivery to Christian workers to help them become more effective while remaining within their contexts.
  4. A Leaders Cohort. CICS aims to develop leaders from North India. The vision is to train postgraduate and PhD leaders who would then go on to become pastors, mission leaders and theological trainers for North India.missions-department
